In a year with a tremendous loss, I find it especially important to find gratitude. Years where abundance and good things occur make a gratitude list easy. I have had years like that such as the years my girls were born. The years with losses strain the process somewhat but in those valleys flowers still bloom. I think we are conditioned to assume that life will be a mountain top leap to another mountain top. Lofty expectations and for some folks I think that might be their life. Mine, not so much. As I think about 2025 and my list of gratitude, I had to look under some rocks to find new growth.
Here is a list of my 2025 things to be grateful for in no particular order.
-
Tadrina for her incredible courage and unfailing love for me. I am grateful that she can finally rest.
-
My daughters for providing me their courage when I am scared.
-
My friends for their undying love, support and commitment.
-
My staff who dedicate their working and non-working hours to being good people.
-
My clients who trust me to do the best I can.
-
My losses because without those I can’t value the wins.
-
Books, because getting lost in a good book is transformative.
-
Challenges because they demand me to pivot, adapt, and innovate.
-
The life I have, the things I don’t and the future I create.
Happy Thanksgiving.
